I realized that 'friendship' macam no longer about the mutual affection and sharing of common interests of two or more individuals already... Nowadays, macam add-on the unsur of politics games like that, i mean in the sense of manipulating the relationship in pursue of smtg else...

what a horrible findings...sigh!!

Relationship (R/s) can be when two person or ground behave or response to each other. So it really depends which relationship you are regarding to.
Since manipulating and being manipulated is also a relationship, they are responding to each other.

Maybe your meaning friendship, or Boy Girl R/s?
