where's the spirit of merdeka?

it's the final week of august.let us show our patriotism by taking some time to ponder and appreciate the meaning of merdeka.why not take some time to share what we think or feel about merdeka.it's one way to show that we young generation still cherish the true meaning of merdeka. :D

Let's go to Padang Merdeka..Merdeka!!!

The real meaning of Merdeka for the young genereation is HOLIDAY! GREAT MERDEKA SALES! SHOPPING!....

Now no more young generation really cares about the merdeka, and yet the history behind it already listen and read until bored. DO this consider as no patriotic spirit? Haha

Well, the youngs are still concern of 'Merdeka', at least the word itself does. From the radio advertisement:
--- finished exams --- "Merdeka"
--- parents outstation --- "Merdeka"
--- lecturer cancel class --- "Merdeka"

Well, the term patriotism means what? does putting up more flags on your bike, car, or room means your patriotic? flying a handful of flags (Dr. Andrew Aeria, FSS lecturer asked us this).

Anyways, the counting of Malaysia being independence for 51 years is wrong itself. We need to re-learn counting and our history

Well, i always think that sambutan merdeka is totally meaningless...last merdeka..i go home early and prepare my proposal...i'm pissed off with the way people try to bring out what they thought semangat merdeka...i can't be bothered with this kind of attitude...the bike convoi...they are truly annoying! Yesterday, i learn to appreciate our independence a lil bit more...not by going to any stupid parade...but by listening to what my lecturer has to say about what we have today is gradually taken by others...if we do nothing about it...one day...we left with nothing...maybe not even pride...so long dy :shock:

Nowadays when we voice our discomfort of politics, we are being blamed of unpatriotic. But they are the one should be blamed, ruining the country for $$$!

That makes people fed up to celebrate merdeka with the country leaders every year.

I also agree that bike convoy does not convey spirit of independence. They rely on bike and flag to show off patriotism. Their behaviour is like in jungle, wilderness etc.
