October !!!
Once again, it's been a long while since i updated this area of uni-kopitiam. Posting a topic here
ain't an easy task due to serious time constraints.
Well anyways, what happened in the world of soccer? Latest news involving the English Premier
League teams include rising-to-the-top no-namers, faltering big-time spenders and injuries. Ouch!
One glance at the table and even a casual observer will see something unusual. Hull. Yes, Hull.
Hull sits comfortably at third place below Liverpool and Chelsea. This is the first time in 104
years of their history that they are playing in the top flight. What a remarkable start to the
season! They managed to beat the London duo, Arsenal and Tottenham in sensational style. Not many
can boast a record of defeating Arsenal at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger also stated that after that
match with Hull, he felt physically ill. As their manager Phil Brown mentioned, they really are in
fantasy land at the moment.
Then there's Tottenham. They have failed to even get a win in seven games. They currently sit at
the bottom of the table with a mere 2 points. They performed OK against Wisla Krakow in their UEFA
Cup match. Their continuing downward spiral in the Premier League is largely due to the fact that
they sold their two influential strikers in Berbatov and Keane. At this rate, normally the manager
will be under fire and the fans would call for his head. Even bookmakers will place bets on who
will be the manager's replacement! However, Ramos remains insistent that it's still not too late
and that the club will still be able to turn things around and still be able to contest for a top
four spot! Good luck to him, though now it seems rather impossible that that would happen.
Newcastle is another club in crisis. They are just above Tottenham with 5 points. Their new interim
manager, Joe Kinnear, who has been out of football for 4 years, is currently in the hot seat. Just
recently, he launched a scathing verbal abuse towards the reporters during a press conference. He's
merely saying things which many other managers before him would have wanted to say but didn't dare
to. There were many parties who were sceptical about him being appointed to be in charge of a team
currently in a seemingly endless crisis. Due to the club's unsettled state, their star striker and
4th all time top England striker Michael Owen has been left out of the national squad. What a pity
for the ex-Liverpool and Read Madrid star.
Then there's injuries. It's that time of the year again, where players get all types of injuries, big or small. One club suffering from this is Chelsea. They have an armada of stars on the treatment bench at the moment. The most serious injury goes to Michael Essien, who ruptured knee ligaments during international duty with Ghana. Carvalho, Anelka and Joe Cole are out too. Despite having this many players unavailable, Chelsea still have the firepower to overcome any opposition.
That's all for now for this exhaustive post. Wish that more could be written. But life in the busiest faculty in UNIMAS (no prizes for guessing) has seriously cut the moderator's (yours truly) free time to post here. Drop some comments an insights people! =)

Re: October !!!
the Big Four wins again. Chelsea now topped the table while Liverpool follows in second. Chelsea looks very strong this season while Liverpool struggled to keep winning. Hull City played very well to get into #3 spot although is a newcomer.
Wonder why nobody here is interested in soccer?

Agree. A fan should sokong their club during it's ups and downs, not only when they win..
The BRC cafe now dont have the projector already, so it's not possible to air it like last time. But i believe we can see it inside since it's astro. Just ask when they are nt watching, they wont hesitate to let you watch.. Just do them some favour by ordering their food/drinks, i know it's worse but you need to show your appreciation..
@aries_gurlz
What happened to MU this season.. They haven't pick up the pace yet. Draw again last night..

Chelsea vs Liverpool tonight.. battle of the `invincibles'..
Chelsea hope to have defender Ashley Cole back from the hamstring injury he picked up on England duty.
But Didier Drogba (knee), Michael Ballack (foot), Joe Cole (foot) and Michael Essien (knee) are all out.
Liverpool have been boosted by the news that Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso have recovered from injuries sustained against Atletico Madrid in midweek.
Striker Robbie Keane (pelvis) is still a doubt while Spaniard Fernando Torres (hamstring) is definitely out.

Re: October !!!
chelsea r finally beaten at home. a bosingwa deflection was enough to push liverpool to the top of the table.
in other action, we can only hope that tottenham will score a decent result againt bolton. they have appointed harry redknapp as their manager to turn things around.

Re: October !!!
The match is quite balanced although Chelsea dominated the pitch some time, but it couldn't break through Liverpool's defence. Liverpool's defence is very good, their defence is as organised as their attacks.
Liverpool would have added a second goal if not Alonso's free kick hit the upright.. Chelsea have a few chances too, but luck is not with them today..
Hope Tottenham rises..

Tottenham beat Bolton by 2-0. Harry delivered a win in less than 24 hours - which couldn't be done by them for 9 matches already.
Next match is Tottenham vs Arsenal..

Re: October !!!
aotearoa, u a chelsea supporter? yeah, i feel bad for chelsea, even though i dont support them. the last time they lost at their home was all the way back in 2004, where arsenal beat them 2-1. whatever it is, their run of home results was magnificent, n i seriously doubt any team would be able to match that record ever again.
oo yea, spurs vs gunners promises to b a feisty encounter. spurs regaining their confidence, against a young arsenal team. manu seems surprisingly subdued...

Re: October !!!
Tottenham held the gunners to an exciting 4-4 draw! looks like they're starting to rediscover their goalscoring prowess n gaining their confidence back.
Hull City, the surprise hit of the season, finally slumped to a 3-0 defeat against Chelsea. many would suggest that this is when Hull's fairytale bubble would burst. a further defeat by Man U would further ruin their confidence. However, the Tigers have strong character.

spurs r masters of great comebacks. recall last time the manner they defeated west ham 4-3. that was one heck of an exhilarating match. they keep coming back from goals down. sigh, those r the good times.
