Unimas...why you have to be like this?

this is the place where you can speak about your dissatisfaction towards unimas...everything!

this one i quote myself (as Pepper there)...it relates to this topic.

"The first semester of 2008/2009 had just started few weeks ago, I noticed few changes happens here and there in UNIMAS, I found out that the Interaction Room in FIT becoming more comfy for the students (and it open until midnight, thank god!), they got a water cooler/ water dispenser or whateverthenameis in front of TR10 and the
FSTS just upgraded the computer lab, furthermore, the have the shuttle bus service available at Sunday night (someone is getting smarter here). However, there’re few matters that I like to grab the attention
of UNIMAS’ higher up…

1. Water cooler/ water dispenser or whateverthenameis…

As mentioned above, FIT already had a water cooler in their faculty; this is a good thing since students need to rehydrate (credit to the extreme tropical weather here). But, I’m wondering….what it takes so that all the residential colleges in UNIMAS also have it? I’d been to MMU Melaka and few matriculation colleges, they provides the water cooler for the students in residential colleges. Why UNIMAS didn’t have it? I can’t believe it if the reason is because they don’t have resource (money) to buy it. To be frank, if that excuses come out, then I’ll be asking “Then why UNIMAS always spends lavishly for their staffs?” Trust me, I’m not the only one thinking like that, majority of
the students have nickname for UNIMAS, UNIversity MAlaysia Staf.

2. Wireless

It’s a good thing that UNIMAS finally have wireless service available for the students, the problem here, it did not reached major part of UNIMAS residential college, I heard a lot of complains from my friends about this. Some might say this “We should be grateful! Last time UNIMAS didn’t even have one…so sabarlah…” I understand the
importance of being grateful, but I did not understand the logic of lingering to the past and make it as an excuse as to why we fail to move forward…we had enough of staffs with no work ethics, please, let us have reliable wireless.

3. Noise coming from the Water Tower Café

4. Degradation of the food available and hygiene in cafes inside UNIMAS

I don’t think I need to elaborate on this issue, I just want to address the issue again so action actually taken.


5. Pejabat Bendahari/Kewangan

This issue already becomes a classic in UNIMAS, every students know it.

a. Why only two counters open at a time (even though, there’s a lot of client) when they have seven? Where all the staffs go? Minum pagi? Minum petang? Hantar anak pegi sekolah?

b. The staffs are rude and had been rude since long time ago. It’s extremely annoying since it is their job, what they been paid for! We come there to pay our fees, not to apply loan that their face masam mencuka and their language very foul."

why is it so suck in most of our perfect and best demand......

personally i have dissatisfaction in unimas too, but i just simply take it as part of life. nothing to complaint. :)

i got a lot to complaint...because i'm unimas client...a consumer...and yet my rights as a consumer...where it had gone all this years???

Seriously, there's one male staff over there is as if he hasn't been laid for centuries, aside from having a sour face consistently each time I've been there, he's not helpful, at all. There was once I was in a hurry and asked him what time does the treasury closes and he said "tengok pintu". Hey m f , what do you think I am? Illiterate?
I know the closing time is imprinted on the door, I would have go to the door instead of asking him. Does it mean that the f er doesn't know what time the treasury closes? Gah... I get boiled up each time I go there.

Water cooler/ water dispenser? Every colleges have their own, some even have two like BR and Cempaka. Still complaining? Just because you need to pay? Walk too far away? Why they don't have money to buy? You said it (quote it) yourself, FIT become comfy, FSTS com lab upgraded. UNIMAS don't spend for their staffs, they spent on staffs. Asking for more and stating you don't have one when you actually had, won't help much.

Weak, bad, unsufficient, slow, constrained wireless connection? Better than nothing. People have unlimited of wants, but not all is to be satisfied. People kept asking for more. No wireless, get one then as better one, then ask turn on the server longer/ 24/7, then ask faster one. Tsk tsk tsk. Not going to ask be patients, just get over it.

No doubt, UNIMAS have too hand "hands and legs" by the ratio of 1: 3.1 students and staffs ratio. CAIS librarian and the counters for trouble shootings in UNIMAS sucks all the same, with minority of them being nice only. People work with their own level of stress. Emotionally, psycho-sociologically stresses can cause death itself. Ever thought the students being rude to them when students have problems? They also work as employee, not to be paid to see the customers' faces.

Things always works two ways round.

Acme...i think you are a very calm person...while i'm the other way around....it's weird to think a university that claim to be technologically advanced fail to provide good internet service, i had heard myself unimas lecturer including the one from FIT complaining about the internet and wireless..why i'm so concerned about it??? my life depends on it...my degree depends on it...i need it to find literature, to do bioinformatics...there is no way i'll get over it!

about the water cooler...easy said...we deserve it!

Acme : Which water dispenser are you referring to (in BRC)? The one where we have to pay or otherwise?

Regarding the two ways round mechanism, you said it, the employees are paid solely to do their job, no doubt about that. But having some human courtesy wouldn't hurt them, do they? I always approach the staffs (regardless where) with the most polite manner possible, but some of them are just...impossible. Plus, being condescending to us doesn't help either. It's only a handful of them that is that way, thankfully.

the one we don't need to pay....we need it few places such as cais, since it is far from everything else. FYI, FIT takes 2 years to get it...screw unimas bureaucracy!

FK, as compared to FIT is student comfort barren, the most comfortable thing we can find in our lounge, (if that can be considered as one) is our sofa. FSTS's lounge is so much more cozier :D
And yeah, BRC/Cempaka doesn't have free water dispenser, if that is what acme is referring to.

Water cooler/ water dispenser is installed by our FIT own students' society PERTEKMA...not UNIMAS installed it...is our president, VISNU, the coming timbalan of MPP installed it de..

Well according to Nikk Adam, he called FIT and they told him it takes two years to get it...is it true?

based on wat our president told is they ask ppl come to install, and also the coffee machine in our Student's Interaction Room...
by d way, x noe the details too...may be need to refer to the Pertekma ppl too...who is Nikk Adam?

well, if want to complain about unimas, wah...a lot!!!but sigh...unimas management self-centered...seldom considered about students' welfare...i got open a relevant topic b4 in UKF..pls refer to "Kebajikan in UNIMAS".. :)

Since UNIMAS established for tens of years now, those from the past and previous and survive, what can't we? Don't the saying goes that the next generation is always better, here, in terms of survival and endurance and perseverance?

Working in the support and service department is fairly stressful, a student might see them once a day, but they have to see numerous students a day, with same repetitive nuisance or different problems.

Water dispense have a brain, a business one, with so much demand it decide to increase the price, hence causing the "makan duit". Saying of lounge, lobby, rest room and what not, try take a visit to FSS and FEB, and you'll be grateful of what you have now.

As for CAIS not possible to have water dispenser since, bringing into CAIS (passing the guard), is prohibited in anyways. More dumb of ever, the dressing code required to enter CAIS. Does it really matters what you wear the shirt having colar or non-colar shirt influences? At least now they loosen up the a little thou. Too much dong dong slackers and social loafers in CAIS as librarians also.

Well, i've been saying the same things over and over again, too, in different threads with different peoples. Lolx. I get what you mean and feel JanBB.

cz they think of they are "orang dewasa", no need to "serve" us (we are "budak" in their mind)...but like wat babytsukasu say, we pay to study here, government pay their salary, they supposed do wat they need to do...jz do 30% or lesser of their job, senang-senang pass their working day daily..so free and relax...if like tat, better no need to work...neglect wat supposed to do..orang dewasa??may be...

What you say here is very easy, that's what you'll do when you are in their place in the future; believe me.

Work itself is complicated. People always wanted to work less but get more by the end of the day. Boss want more produce, worker want more wages. It's easy to say when you're not working, by the means of long term. What more to say about stress and job satisfaction?
So, no work from worker = no produce for boss = no profit for boss = no salary for worker.

FK's has almost nothing also. Except for the computer facilities that is.
And don't forget that guys have to tuck in their shirts and have their matric cards all the time in CAIS. Really, those dong dong slackers sometimes makes a huge hoo hah over this matter. Got called out once for having my shirt not fully tucked in -_-
